We Welcome Your Support
We rely on your generous support to continue the work of the Canadian Friends of the École Biblique.
The École was founded more than a century ago by a small group of Dominican priests who were determined to study the Bible in the land in which it was written. From their efforts emerged the École Biblique, a teaching-research institute dedicated to the study of the Bible and the archaeology, history and languages of the Holy Land.
Your gift to the CFEB will support biblical scholarship in Canada and around the globe. If you wish, you may designate your gift to go towards:
- Scholarships for graduate students and academic researchers who specialize in studying the Bible, its people, history, theology, archeology and languages. We now have named scholarships in honour of two previous board members: Guy Couturier, CSC, President Emeritus of the CFEB; and Philippe LeBlanc, OP, who served for years as vice-president. It is possible to contribute directly to scholarships in general or either of these named scholarships.
- Library acquisitions (journals, publications) for the École library, recognized worldwide as one of the best collections in Biblical Studies, archaeology, Near Eastern Studies and ancient languages.
- Technological innovations and computer updates for the library.
- Support for Canadian academics to teach at the École and conduct research for the Bible in Its Traditions project.

Our Scholarship Recipients Say....
“The working environment was truly ideal … The holdings are outstanding, the workspace was generous, the stacks are open and therefore easily accessible at times, and perhaps best of all, I had twenty-four hour access to the library. This was incredibly valuable.”
– Dr. Daniel Machiela (summer 2015), Faculty of Theology, Notre Dame University, South Bend IN
“I want to express my deep gratitude for the opportunity granted by your generosity this summer. I had a wonderful time at the École, from being nourished by the spiritual community to being immersed in the wealth of their library. …”
– Xenia Chan (summer 2023), Ph.D. candidate, Toronto School of Theology, Toronto ON
“I am grateful to have received your scholarship at this point of my career–post PhD and before beginning as an associate professor. Your generosity made a difference in my research and in broadening my understanding of Jerusalem and the current situation in Israel/Palestine. I hope you will continue to support early career scholars, and that it will be as a big of a blessing on their research as it has been on mine. Your generosity matters, and I am very grateful for your dedication to support researchers and students.”
– Aleksander Krogevoll (May to June 2023), Volda University College, Volda Norway
